LOCAL HISTORY & ATTRACTIONS

Some of the earliest settlers of Scott County arrived in the late stages of the 18th century; approximately in the neighborhood of 1778. They cultivated and established their farmland around the New River and its tributaries. The beautiful area we all know and love as Scott County was known as North Carolina then. Today, Scott County has much more to offer with local history & attractions; such as, Twin Arches, Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, Leatherwood Ford, Historic Scott County jail, and Angel Falls overlook just to name a few!
